All About Almond Oil

The almond can be found primarily in the Middle East and South Asia. The edible core of the almond is called drupe, also known as the "nut" or seed and is enclosed in a hardened outer shell. There are two types of almonds; bitter and sweet. Usually it's the sweet almonds that are consumed and sold in stores whereas the bitter almonds are used to make almond oil. Almonds commonly are sold either shelled (i.e., without the shell), unshelled (i.e., with the shell), or bleached (i.e., almonds with the shell that have the seed softened by hot water).  If you are allergic to nuts it is not advisable that you should ever use almond oil.
